Our Wine Story

We produce terroir focused wines from our Grange Estate Vineyards and County fruit

Grape growing in the County isn’t for the faint of heart but the results are intensely rewarding. Part of our success is in being one of the largest acreage under vine which provides us with flexibility and stride when dealing with nature and its variability.

Since our beginning with plantings in 2001, we’ve become known for producing primarily Burgundian wine varieties which are highly charactered and speak of the County terroir.

In addition, we craft wines from grapes gathered from our “Farmer” friends

These Farmer's Series wines celebrate the friendships we have with other farmer's, growers and vineyards across Ontario. Be it a helping hand in the vineyard or growing for each other, small craft wineries are working together to create expressive wines that speak of amazing people and their terroir.

Our Vineyard Story

We’ve always concentrated on maintaining a vision for what County wine can be — and how our terroir profile can be conveyed to the palate. With that, we’re grateful for the incredibly dedicated people here that tirelessly pursue the Grange Winery goal of ensuring the world will love what we have to offer here.

Our Story Continues…

With Renewal & Growth

The return of star viticulturist Mike Peddlesden in 2022 marked a new beginning for our winery. Having lead our original planting effort in 2002, no other person knew these vines, soils and climate more to be able to guide our quest for a renewal in our vineyards.

Committed to this passion and focus is the team at Northfield, The Grange’s ownership group, who have been with the winery since the beginning.

We believed that the County could create beautiful wines. Our namesake vineyard, planted in 2003, showed this in the Cabernet Franc 2007 release... we believe that we can return to this.
