The roses on the label represent the gorgeous gardens that adorn the estate. Roses are planted at the ends of vineyard rows at Marynissen Estates. This is an old vineyard practice because roses can act as an early warning system for certain fungal diseases, particularly powdery mildew. Roses and grapevines can be susceptible to similar diseases, and because roses mayshow symptoms earlier, they historically helped growers monitor vineyard health. At Marynissen Estates Winery, the roses are also part of the winery’s iconic visual identity and vineyard landscape-especially the prominent rows of roses visitors see among the vines.

Introduction
Lafontaine du Loup Brut is a beautiful traditional method bubbly, crafted from the ideal terroir of our Estate Vineyards here in Prince Edward County.
Created by brilliant sparkling winemaker Jonas Newman in collaboration with the Grange’s proprietors, it proudly carries their signatures.
This wine is an expression of our love of Prince Edward County and for Lafontaine, the spirited Francophone town in North Ontario which inspired the famous legend of the wolf.
Description
Exquisite traditional method sparkling wine showcasing pronounced autolytic richness and a complex bouquet of fresh brioche, toasted almond, preserved lemon, and golden apple.
A vibrant mineral lift brings focus and precision to the aromatics. With vineyard expression at the forefront, the palate reveals a creamy mid-palate framed by a fine, elegant mousse.
This wine is a true celebration of the County and the distinctive soils that lend depth, character, and unmistakable identity to our wines.
The Legend of the Wolf of Lafontaine
The people of Lafontaine hold on to a legend - that of a lone wolf which for years, terrorized them and their livestock.
Lurking through the darkness of separation between old Lafontaine’s cultures - French settlers, English Loyalists, Voyageurs, and Aboriginal Peoples - the beast was free to exploit their isolation.
Bonding together as one community, they banished the wolf to never return.
To this day, the wolf symbolizes the common respect and connection between the cultures of Lafontaine, a place which remains one of the last Francophone communities in Ontario.
We like to think the Wolf of Lafontaine incited solidarity; a cause for celebration and popping of corks that spirited great friendships - they were united by bubbles.
